Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Culinary Solutions Specialist strategically utilizes knowledge and expertise, in combination with Industry Trends and Gordon Food Service products, services and resources, to provide profit maximizing solutions in the areas of culinary application, front and back of the house operations, and overall business planning, to our divisional customers.


Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Executive Chef certification or Culinary Certification (Canadian Red Seal or International equivalent) preferred
  • Bachelor Degree in Culinary, Sales, Marketing, and/or Business preferred
  • Must maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license and safe driving record
  • Minimum 6 years previous Executive Chef experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience


Essential Functions:

  • Supports customer menu engineering by developing and testing recipes for customers as requested by Divisional Leadership and customizes Gordon Food Service deck recipes to specific customer needs.
  • Provide relevant business solutions to complement the initiatives of our Sales and Marketing teams, with an ultimate goal of increasing the overall market share of Gordon Food Service, including developing and delivering customized presentations regarding menu related trends and sales building opportunities for sales and customer groups.
  • Consults with key customers to provide menu analysis and development.
  • Researches local and large-scale trends and provides guidance to corporate and division marketing as well as customers.
  • Provides culinary insights to divisional Customer Solutions Team, and ensures the success of customer events and activities result in business metric improvement for both customer and company.
  • Ensures consistent and relevant culinary training for sales teams, in collaboration with other divisional marketing team members, and conducts training sessions regarding effective use of GFS menu and recipe resources for sales and marketing groups.
  • Utilize reports and statistical tools to analyze back of the house food service industry research and share this expertise through various tools to improve awareness and drive improvements in meeting the needs of our customers and consumers.
  • Participates in customer business reviews as requested by sales management.
  • Helps develop and lead research tours to help our customers explore new trends and menu ideas that strengthen their brand in the local market, with an aim to grow Gordon Food Service’s value to these and potential customers.
  • Participates in the execution of food shows, other related shows and activities in support of strategic divisional events.
  • Participates in local Culinary Associations - In order to represent Gordon Food Service and to represent our Brand initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally; and skill in presentation creation and delivery
  • Time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of restaurant operations
  • Proven ability to deliver results and facilitate a collaborative environment

  • Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive, Sites, Groups)
  • Gordon Food Service Systems

Other Requirements:

  • 30% Travel required
  • 20% of work may be performed during nights and weekends
  • 80% direct interaction with customers
  • Lifting boxes up to 70 pounds as needed
