  • Working with both internal and external stakeholders, the Transportation Manager will provide leadership and strategic direction on business processes to the PM Transportation team. This position will support the Transportation operations by recommending measures to improve safety and quality of service, increase efficiency of the department and find cost effective solutions that meet or exceed Gordon Food Service standards.  The position entails a high degree of relationship building/management. Actively cultivating relationships, obtaining support and driving results to exceed customer service and on-time targets.

    • Hours of Work - 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

    SUMMARY OF DUTIES

     

    • Lead the entire PM Transportation operations (Backhaul, Milton and Depot broadline delivery)
    • Continuously works with other departments to coordinate activities to serve both internal and external customers
    • Assume responsibility for the PM Transportation team’s planning, execution, policies and procedures.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for respective Transportation team and manage performance with cross-functional input and support.
    • Utilize analytics, reporting and gap analysis to generate continuous improvement plans
    • Accountable for ongoing performance management to the PM Transportation team members including performance reviews and progressive discipline
    • Foster succession planning by mentoring, guiding and developing Assistant Transportation Supervisors and Transportation Supervisors
    • Complete weekly scheduling of direct report including vacation planning
    • Conduct analysis on current operation practices and create improvements based on industry best practices.
    • Work on special projects and other duties as required

    EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Valid AZ license is an asset
    • No active discipline on file
    • Post Secondary education preferred
    • Previous experience leading people in a transportation environment
