    Swamper: Grande Prairie, AB 

     

    Department: Transportation 

    Hours & Shifts: 4 x 10 hour shifts.  Availability Monday to Saturday or as per occupational requirements FULL TIME  

     

    Summary:  Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the Swamper is responsible in assisting the Service Representatives of handling, unloading and delivering produce, as well as communicating professionally with our customers at all times. The individual in this role must be physically fit, as part of the daily routine will consist of lifting and unloading of products.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manually sorting and unloading food products and hand-wheeling them into the customer locations with the use of ramps and occasionally stairs (approx. 600-800 cases/shift)
    • Follow all GFS Canada policies and procedures including all health & safety regulations
    • Build and maintain customer relationships
    • Responsible for care of equipment, including tools, reflectors, flares, chains, etc.
    • To complete/submit all forms, reports, equipment inspections, receipts, etc. according to GFS policy
    • Report any mechanical problems immediately (in writing, using proper form) to Supervisor
    • To report to customers and shipping any time delayed during your assigned trip
    • Maintain temperature probe and keep cab and box of unit clean at all times
    • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
    • Reporting and recording any extra product located on your truck
    • Documentation and reporting as required
    • Any other task as assigned by leadership

     

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Must have a valid Class 5 license with a clean driving record
    • Must be physically fit and able to repeatedly lift, stack, pull and carry heavy items (up to 100lbs)
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Self motivated and efficient
    • Excellent attendance record
    • Basic math and writing skills
    • Knowledge of order selection system

     

    Working Conditions:

     

    • Must be able to work in a variety of weather and temperature ranges (including being able to safely operate the equipment during poor road  and driving conditions)
    • Must be able to handle all types of food products including fresh: seafood, beef, pork, produce, nuts, spices, milk, eggs, etc.
    • Steel toe (CSA approved) footwear is required at all times.

    Starting Wage: $21.50/hour
