    Human Resources Generalist


    Position Overview


    The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing a full range of confidential and professional HR support services to all employees at Gordon Food Services BC. This includes reinforcing the culture and values through the selection, retention and development of the best people. This position reports to the Senior HR Generalist of Operations.


    Duties and Responsibilities


    Responsibilities include employee relations, recruitment and selection, training and development, salary and benefits administration, performance management, employee retention, employee orientations as well as other HR related programs.  This position will also perform the tasks listed below, but not limited to:

    • Act as the first point of contact for Gordon Food Service employees regarding HR related matters to ensure a high-quality employee experience throughout all employee interactions
    • Respond to and assist employees with queries regarding policies and benefits
    • Coordinate and develop HR projects and initiatives to serve the organization
    • Assist in the organization and facilitation of internal training and information sessions for employees and leadership
    • Responsible for delivering all facets of recruiting success throughout the organization (with a strong focus on warehouse and transportation)
    • Assist with various HR functions, events, programs
    • Propose process improvements to human resources standard operating procedures
    • Assist with day-to-day operations of HR Department

    Required Skills and Qualifications


    • Ability to build relationships and interact effectively with all levels and departments within the organization
    • Capable of recruiting and retaining high-quality people
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
    • Knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Worker Compensation Act and other legislative requirements in BC
    • Excellent judgment, diplomacy, and discretion
    • Strong computer skills  and experience working in Google Suite and Microsoft Office systems
    • Good working knowledge of human resources information systems, payroll and time and attendance management systems
    • 2 plus years of experience in a generalist role or a similar role in a Human Resources department
    • Relevant education and experience in Human Resources Management
    • CPHR designation is an asset
